Consequence

Oil on canvas. 60 x 80 cm.

In “Consequence” Mau Pavón constructs a visual narrative in which the connection between the human figure and a succession of orange shapes creates a symbolic bridge between the earthly and the transcendent. These shapes, rising in a sinuous column, evoke the idea of a gradual process—a chain of events or consequences that begins with the individual and ascends toward a radiant point of light above.

The dominant orange hue of the floating figures conveys warmth and vitality, suggesting the creative or spiritual energy that propels this ascent. The way each element appears to metamorphose as it rises reinforces the notion of evolution and transformation, almost as if they represent different stages of an inner journey. The contrast with the green of the ground and the muted blue of the sky underscores the dichotomy between immediate reality (the grassy field) and the more subtle, symbolic realm (the series of suspended shapes).

The figure standing nearby, seen from a perspective close to the viewer, observes these manifestations with a mixture of curiosity and wonder. His slightly detached position from the floating forms suggests a moment of contemplation, as if he recognizes that these “fruits” or “fragments” are, in some way, projections of his own experience or past actions. The clear horizon and a few distant trees enhance the sense of vastness, inviting deeper reflection on the meaning of each orange symbol rising skyward.

The soft brushwork in the sky and the ethereal atmosphere contrast with the solidity of the orange shapes, giving them an almost sculptural presence. The use of light, especially at the top of the composition, suggests a culmination or revelation—the point at which the consequences of one’s actions reach a higher clarity or understanding.

Overall, “Consequence” invites viewers to contemplate the continuum between our actions and their repercussions, expressed through a Surrealist language and a color palette that reinforces the notion of ongoing transformation. The observer becomes a witness to the chain of cause and effect flowing from the earth to the heavens, reminding us that each step we take can resonate in unforeseen levels of our existence.
